PUXICO -- The Rev. Roy J. King, 87, of Puxico, died Monday, March 14, 1994, at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
He was born July 17, 1906, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., son of Delbert and Clara King. He and Cleda Mildred Allen were married Oct. 25, 1924. She died Nov. 19, 1989.
King formerly lived near Bloomfield, moving to the Puxico area 33 years ago.
He was a retired General Baptist minister and farmer, and was owner of a welding shop near here. He had served as pastor at Walker and Hills Church near Bloomfield, Pleasant Valley Church near Dexter, Corinth and Kinder Chapel Church near Puxico, and Richmond Chapel Church near Wappapello.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth King of St. Charles, Carl King of Mountain Home, Ark., Gerald and Robert King of Puxico; three daughters, Mary Harrison of Advance, Lois Loida of Sullivan, Ina Davis of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Zeltha Talbott of Miamisburg, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and 13 stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will be in Duck Creek Cemetery near here.
