MARBLE HILL -- The Rev. Orville Myers, 86, of Marble Hill, died Sunday, April 8, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 14, 1909, near Lutesville, son of William J. and Melola Eaker Myers. He and Myrtle Chadd were married Dec. 25, 1928.
Myers was ordained in October 1948. From then until 1988 he pastored churches in Bollinger County, Alton, Ill., Poplar Bluff, Campbell, Dexter, Bloomfield, Bernie, Malden and Aquilla.
He was a member of Aquilla General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Orville Myers of Marble Hill, Paul Myers of East Alton, Ill., Eudell Myers of Bethalto, Ill., Irving Myers of Dexter, William Myers of Jackson; a daughter, Laverne Eaker of Paris, Ill.; three sisters, Alda Fisher of St. Louis, Agnes Sturgeon of Advance, Rachel Shell of Marble Hill; 16 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Naamon Eaker and grandsons the Revs. William and Jason Myers officiating. Burial will be in Dry Creek Community Cemetery.
