GRAY RIDGE -- Funeral for the Rev. Henry Jordan of Gray Ridge will be held at 2 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Dr. Benny King will officiate. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex.
Jordan, 72, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.
He was born Jan. 11, 1927, at Portageville, son of Needhem and Rosa Fourthman Jordan. He and Irene Smith were married Sept. 26, 1948, near Essex.
Jordan was ordained in 1950. He had been a minister at Parma, White Oak, New Bethel, Morehouse, New Hope, Liberty Hill, and Gray Ridge General Baptist churches.
He had also worked at International Shoe Co. in Sikeston, was a licensed insurance agent, and drove a school bus for Richland School District 20 years. He was a member of Olive Branch General Baptist Church near Essex.
Jordan served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Roger Jordan of Dexter; a daughter, Janet Benson of Lawrenceville, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Chism of Villa Park, Ill., Louise Vinzant of Scottsboro, Ala.; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
