WATERLOO, Iowa -- The Rev. Franklin Vernon Moore, 74, of Waterloo died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Covenant Medical Hospital in Waterloo.
He was born July 10, 1935, in Lucerne, Mo., son of William Franklin and Leta May Moore. He and Joanne Happekotte were married Dec. 9, 1961, in Waterloo.
Moore was a Baptist minister, and had been a minister for 45 years. He served in churches in Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and was last in Fairbank, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; a daughter, Rebecca Moore of Waterloo; two sons, Lt. Col. Timothy (Lisa) Moore, of Leesburg, Va., and Philip (Suzan) Moore of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren; a brother, Charles Marcus Moore of Davenport, Iowa; and a sister, Carolyn Hockett of Des Moines, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Perry Moore.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Woods Funeral Home in Fairbank and at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Dunkerton, Iowa.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Interment will be at Garden of Memorials Cemetery in Waterloo.
