ALTENBURG -- The Rev. Edward G. Gruenwald, 66, of Altenburg died Friday, March 27, 1998, in Altenburg.
He was born July 31, 1931, at Altenburg, son of Theodore and Alma Schuessler Gruenwald. He and Florence Hecht were married Sept. 1, 1956.
Gruenwald was a retired Lutheran pastor. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis in 1957, and was ordained later that year. He served congregations in Swift Current and Cadillac, Saskatchewan, Canada; Villard, Grove Lake and Frazee, Minn., and Chapin, Ill. He retired in August 1993.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Daniel Gruenwald of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mark Gruenwald of Evansville, Ind., Stephen Gruenwald of St. Louis, Paul Gruenwald of Chicago, Nathan Gruenwald of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Roy Gruenwald of Altenburg; and six grandchildren.
He was prececed in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg from 5-9 p.m. today, and Sunday from 6:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Al Strand officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
