The Rev. Donald E. Crane, son of the late W.V. Crane and Nancy Walls Crane, was born July 26, 1916, at Dudley, Mo., and went to be with his Lord and Savior at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau July 15, 2003, at the age of 86.

Rev. Crane was an ordained minister of the Church of God based out of Cleveland, Tenn. He graduated from Lee College and went into the pastoral service, serving churches in Servierville, Tenn., Peoria and Sesser, Ill., and Salem, Ore.

After returning to Southeast Missouri he started churches in Malden, Dexter, Dudley and Poplar Bluff. He also spent time on the road as an evangelist. He was a 1935 graduate of Dexter High School and an avid supporter of the Bearcats athletic programs.

He was united in marriage to Elfreda Mae Duley Aug. 10, 1936, at Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Crane preceded him in death Feb. 10, 2002.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Norma Crane of Jackson, Randy and Myra Crane of Palm Desert, Calif.; three grandchildren and spouses, Kimberlee and Kelly Young of Bentonville, Ark., Kelly and David Richardson of Jackson, Jennifer and Brian McGee of Belleville, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Kurt Young and Kyle Young of Bentonville, Garret Richardson of Jackson; and baby Adam McGee due in October.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Lannie, Noah, Ora, William, Ransom, Ernie, Otis and Ray Crane; and two sisters, Viola Rice and Luetta Jennings.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2003.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Don Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Dexter Cemetery.
