MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- The Rev. Daniel Hobert Neace, 85, of Murphysboro died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital in Murphysboro.
He was born March 12, 1912, in Ava, son of Noah Hobert and Laura Octavine Dorway Neace. He and Alice Reed were married Jan. 27, 1936, in Murphysboro. She died July 27, 1995.
Neace was currently associate pastor of Mt. Carbon Church of God in Murphysboro. He began in the ministry in July 1947. He founded and pastored West Side Church of God in Murphysboro from 1958-87. Since 1987 he has conducted revivals and been a supply pastor.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Ripley of Murphysboro; six sons, Hobert Neace of Murphysboro, Claude and Andrew Neace of Jackson, Mo., Robert Neace of Cutler, the Rev. John Neace of Benton, the Rev. Don Neace of Big Stone Gap, Va.; two brothers, Charlie Neace of Belvidere, Sylvester Neace of Metropolis; three sisters, Rose Robinson of Murphysboro, Alma Blair of Clinton, Ky., Ruby Oldman of Belvidere; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro from 6-9 p.m. today, and until service time Sunday.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Paul Ramsey and Jim Giffin officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro.
