PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The Rev. Charles W. Weber, 80, of Chesterfield, Missouri, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
He was born Dec. 4, 1936, in Geneva, Nebraska, son of Walter Oscar and Ruth Goehring Weber.
He graduated from Scribner High School in May 1955 and received a bachelor of arts from Nebraska State Teachers College at Wayne, Nebraska, in May 1959. He taught junior high school for 29 years in the Papillion-LaVista School District in Papillion, Nebraska, from 1959 to 1988.
In 1971, Charles invited Christ to take over his life. He resigned from teaching to attend Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, receiving his master of divinity in 1993.
He was ordained and served the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Missouri, from 1993 to 2005. Charles retired in April 2005 and moved to Chesterfield.
He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church and served as fill-in and visitation minister to churches in the St. Louis area and southeast areas of Missouri. He was a member of Ambassadors of Harmony in St. Louis and Lutherans for Life.
Survivors include a sister, Marian Koester of Scribner, Nebraska; a nephew, Steve Koester of Seward, Nebraska; a niece, JoAnn Koester of Columbus, Nebraska; an aunt, Goldie (George) Ankley of Sarasoto, Florida; as well as many cousins and many Weber relatives who love him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Vernon Koester; and two nieces, Donna and Diane Koester.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Frank Lucas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
