MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Rev. Charles Vernon Schneider, 84, of Athens, Ga., formerly of Marble Hill, died Monday, May 28, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens.
He was born July 6, 1922, in Lutesville, son of Casper Allen and Charlotte Greene Schneider. He first married Evelyn Hahn Dec. 15, 1939. She died Feb. 26, 1991. He and Dycie Campbell were married June 20, 1993.
Schneider received a bachelor's degree in divinity from Anderson University in Anderson, Ind., and a master's degree in counseling from Illinois State University.
He was a pastor 35 years in Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama and Illinois. He attended Tuckston United Methodist Church in Athens.
Schneider served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jacquelyn Kinder of Hendersonville, N.C., Joy Wooden of Lebanon, Tenn.; a brother, John Schneider of St. Louis; a sister, Virginia Johndrow of St. Louis; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hahn Chapel Cemetery, with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating.
Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
