JACKSON -- Funeral service for the Rev. Charles F. Mayberry of Jackson will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Billy Wiggins will officiate, with burial in New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Mayberry, 66, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at his home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1930, at Deering, son of Jake and Helen Marie Lewis Mayberry. He and Willie Mae Henderson were married April 7, 1954.

A retired minister, Mayberry had pastored at New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, and First Baptist Church at Benton. He was a member of First Baptist at Benton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bruce Mayberry of Oak Ridge, Danny Mayberry of Jackson; a daughter, Carolyn Duemler of St. Clair; three sisters, Imogene MacArthur of Hazelwood, Wanda Stubbs of Blytheville, Ark., Linda Bennett of California; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and brother.
