The Rev. Bobby Franklin Metcalf, 77, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born July 2, 1938, in Augusta, Arkansas, to the late Earl and Maggie Goodon Metcalf.
He married Shirley Anne McKenzie on Dec. 26, 1957, in Chaffee, Missouri. She passed away Nov. 22, 2003. Bobby later married Carol Little on March 19, 2005, and she survives of the home.
Bobby enlisted in the U.S. Navy in San Diego and served as a mechanic on the U.S.S. Ranger and the Naval Air Station in Beeville, Texas, from 1955 to 1959.
He was proud of his service to his country and took pride in being a veteran.
Bobby was a truck driver for Ceramo Pottery Company in Jackson, and he retired from there.
He was an ordained bishop in The Church of God and pastored churches in Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee. He was a founding member of The Church of God in Chaffee.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of the home; a daughter, Kimberly (Johnny) Fowler; grandchildren, Travis (Jadria) Metcalf and Phillip Arnzen; great-grandchildren, Ava, Harper and Brynn Metcalf; step-grandchildren, Chris (Brandy) Fowler and Joey and Bobby Fowler; step-great-grandchildren, Noah and Kennedy Fowler; two stepchildren, Troy Little and Shelly (Scott) Williams; three step-grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Slinkard and Casey Little and Landon Williams; two step-great-grandchildren, Ryan and McKenzie Slinkard; and three brothers, J.D. Metcalf of Redfield, Arkansas, Jimmy Metcalf of Cape Girardeau and Glen Metcalf of Las Vegas.
Besides his wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Hocker, and two brothers, Clovis and George Metcalf.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at The Church of God on Highway 77 in Chaffee.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Church of God, with the Rev. Tom Morris officiating. It will be followed by a full military service provided by the Missouri Honors at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Missouri.
