Funeral service for the Rev. Arnold Earl Thomure of Cape Girardeau will be held at 1 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Bobby Mouser will officiate, with burial in New Lorimier Cemetery.

Thomure, 77, died Thursday, May 6, 1993, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Sept. 14, 1915, at Hillsboro, son of William Thomas and Flora Hassie Evans Thomure. He and Alma Mae Simmons were married Nov. 13, 1934, at East Prairie.

Thomure was a Pentecostal minister from 1943-72. He founded Gospel Assembly at Cape Girardeau and East Prairie. He also had pastored in Little Rock, Ark.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James and Jerry Thomure of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Janie Mier of Gordonville, Maizie Rushing of Clinton, Ky., Darlene Ferguson of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Ira and Arno Thomure of East Prairie; five sisters, Irene Presson of Charleston, Lena Presson of Fairview Heights, Ill., Tina Hunt of East Prairie, Margie Burgess of Nashville, Tenn., Doris Rule of Overland; 16 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
