ANNA, Ill. -- The Rev. Alonzo Dale, 70, of Anna died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, upon arrival at Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.
He was born April 1, 1931, in Ullin, Ill., son of George Preston and Bernice Silvers Dale. He and Joanne Beverly Bond were married Dec. 24, 1951.
Dale was editor and publisher of the Cobden Review, then was a pastor for churches in Illinois, Missouri and Arizona 35 years. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Dongola, Ill., and was a member of the American Legion.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Dale of Fairfield, Conn.; a daughter, Dawn Clark of Imperial, Mo.; two brothers, Guy Dale of Dongola, Edward Dale of Southport, N.C.; three sisters, Lois Hunley of Tallahassee, Fla., Barbara Downs of Herrin, Ill., Rita Dale of Marion, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Revs. Myron Dillow and Lucien Bozarth will officiate. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery.
