Renee Ann McDowell, 66, of Jackson passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at her home.
She was born Dec. 24, 1948, in St. Louis, to Ray C. and Hallie M. Sparks Wisdom. She and Benny McDowell were married Oct. 29, 1966, in Illmo (Scott City).
Renee attended Scott City High School. She was employed 42 years as a medical assistant at Saint Francis Medical Center, working in surgery and several other departments. She previously attended First Baptist Church and Shawnee Hills Baptist Church, both in Jackson.
She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and "grandma great." She was faithful to follow all the sporting events of the grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Her other hobbies included boating, camping and reading.
Loving survivors include her husband of 48 years, Benny of Jackson; two daughters, Sonya (Jeff) Kinder of Jackson and Shelly Randol of Clarksville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Ryan (Kristen) Watkins of Jackson, retired Army Specialist Ethan (Dana) McDowell of Cape Girardeau, Sgt. Evan (Cesia) Watkins, currently deployed in Kuwait, Carl Newell III (Shianne McClard) of Jackson, Taylor Randol (Kody Moore) of Jackson and Tristan Randol of Jackson; eight great-grandchildren, Xavier, Alexis, Kami, Judah, Mhyia, Micah, Ezrah and Kase, and another expected in July; five siblings, Charlotte Nichols of High Hill, Missouri, Don L. Wisdom of Old Mines, Missouri, Bill Wisdom of Jonesburg, Missouri, Calvin Wisdom of Hardy, Arkansas, and Deborah Dannenmueller of Kelso, Missouri; and beloved family canine Ozzy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Venita Kreyling and Dorothy Brown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating and David Watkins assisting. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or Saint Francis Caring Fund.
