IMPERIAL, Mo. -- Rebecca "Becky" Jean Butcher, 60, of Imperial, formerly of Gale, Ill., passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at her home.
She was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, to James J. and Stella Mae Prewitt Simmons.
Rebecca graduated from Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, Ill., in 1970. She also graduated from Shawnee Community College School of Nursing in Ullin, Ill., with a registered nurse degree. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She had worked for Burlington Coat Factory in St. Louis for more than 13 years.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Jack L. (Taunya) Butcher Jr. of Olive Branch, Ill.; two grandchildren, Brooke and Paige Butcher; one step-grandchild, Brandon Gorenstein; a sister, Kim Snell of Egypt Mills; extended family, Sandra Gorenstein, DeeDee Gorenstein and Jason (Sara) Gorenstein.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ernest Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Ill.
