Raymond Leo Sievers, 89, formerly of Jackson, passed away Friday, April 2, 2004, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Jackson, son of Henry and Mary Zeller Sievers. He and Martha Hoffmeister were married March 17, 1961. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1997.
Sievers was the oldest member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson with continued membership. He was a charter and honorary member of the Men's Club. Sievers was employed 40 years and retired from the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson, and then was custodian at St. Paul Lutheran School. He was loved and cared for by Don and Anita Sievers of Jackson.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Anita Sievers of Lake Ozark, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Godwin of Des Peres, Mo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church General Memorial Fund.
