Raymond H. Pearl, 83 of Cobden, Ill., died Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.
Pearl was born May 14, 1925, in Mountain Glenn, Ill., son of Fred and Jessie (Winn) Pearl. He and Helga S. Voetterle were married June 5, 1954, in Stuttgart, Germany.
Pearl retired from the U.S. Army after many years of service, including during World War II and in Korea. He worked many years as an electrician and also farmed some.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John Pearl of Cobden, Michael Pearl of Royalton, Ill., Raymond and Teresa of Vienna, Ill., two daughters, Shirely Pearl, Deborah Wooten, both of Cobden; a brother, Edward Pearl of East Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pearl was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, two sons and two daughters.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ill.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery with military rites conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna, Ill.
