RAYMOND O. SCHAEFER

CHAFFEE -- Funeral service for Raymond O. Schaefer of Lena, Ill., was held June 7 at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. The Rev. F. James Larson officiated, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial was in Lena Burial Park.

Schaefer, 77, died Sunday, June 4, 1995, at Lena Continental Manor Nursing Home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1917, at Chaffee, son of John and Catherine Schmidt Schaefer. He and Bernice L. Piefer were married Aug. 2, 1946. She preceded him in death.

Schaefer owned and operated Lena Blackhawk Hotel. He was a member of Freeport Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lena American Legion, Freeport Moose Lodge, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport. He served in the Air Force Division of Aviation Engineers during World War II.

Survivors include a brother, Albert Schaefer of St. Marys, and a sister, Corena Dumey of Chaffee.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
