Raymond J. Boos Sr., 75, of rural Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born in Cape Girardeau Nov. 24, 1921, son of August and Emma Griffin Boos.
He fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a Navy Seebee, carpenter's mate first class, from 1942 until 1945. He returned to Cape Girardeau and married Lee Hitt June 28, 1947.
In Cape Girardeau he worked as a carpenter on many major construction jobs. He was a member of Carpenter's Local 1770 for 50 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Parish.
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Raymond John Boos Jr. and Ted Boos, both of Cape Girardeau, Don Boos of Jefferson City, Tom Boos of Columbia, and Joseph Boos of Gordonville; three daughters, Mary Boos and Margaret Wells, both of Cape Girardeau, and Joan Dunning of Jackson; one brother, Lawrence Boos of Lexington, Ky.; three sisters, Geraldine Huffman of Leopold, Virginia Eftink of Cape Girardeau, and Roseanna Schallert of Effingham, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation and parish prayers will be held Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be conducted by the Rev. Milton Ryan at St. Vincent's Catholic Church Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
