Raymond Irving Mehner, 68, of Crestview, Florida, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, October 14, 1999, at West Florida Regional Medical Center in Pensacola, Florida. Raymond Irving Mehner, 68, of Crestview, Florida, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, October 14, 1999, at West Florida Regional Medical Center in Pensacola, Florida.

He was born August 31, 1931, at Longtown, Missouri, son of Lonnie H. Mehner and Velma Farrar Smith. They have preceded him in death. He married the former Karla Lips. They were married 29 years.

Mr. Mehner retired after 23 years as a communications technician for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad out of Memphis, Tennessee.

He was of the Methodist faith, belonged to the National Parkinson Foundation and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He graduated from Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau. He was a master sargeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Mehner was survived by his wife; two daughters, Sylvia Mehner of Crestview, Florida, and Claudia Mehner of Huenfeld, Germany; three sisters, Nelda Bondurant of St. Louis, Helen Bertrand of Cape Girardeau, and Betty Glueck of Jackson.

The funeral service for Mr. Mehner will be Sunday, October 24, at 2 p.m. at the Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, 829 N. West End Blvd., Cape Girardeau. The Rev. John Gregory will officiate with military honors by the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Mehner's family has requested donations to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N. West 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136-1494 in lieu of flowers.
