Raymond Eugene Long, 68, 429 N. Frederick, died Thursday, March 19, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1923, at Marshall, son of Bert and Helen Hoffa Long. He and JoAnn Brune of Cape Girardeau were married June 26, 1971, in Cape Girardeau.
Long received bachelor and master degrees from Southeast Missouri State University. He taught English at Central High School from 1969-86.
He was a member of Third Street United Methodist Church and VFW Post 3838. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David Long of Hartford, Ill.; four stepsons, Richard York of Wood River, Ill., Steven York of Granite City, Ill., James and Michael York of Cape Girardeau; a brother, John Long of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Marilyn Huck of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. William Dickey officiating.
There is no visitation.
