ZALMA -- Raymond D. Sturgeon, 76, of Zalma died Saturday, Dec. 3, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 15, 1918, at Zalma, the son of Gilbert and Rozina Gaines Sturgeon.
He was a retired farmer and sawmiller and a member of Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church in Gypsy, where we served as deacon and song leader.
On Oct. 22, 1938, he married Lula Angle, who preceded him in death April 13, 1957. Survivors include two sons, Ed and Bob Sturgeon, both of Advance; four daughters, Shirley Grubbs of Dexter, Dorma Sturgeon of Zalma, Sandy Woodfin of Marble Hill and Cathy Clayton of Sikeson; a brother, Milford Sturgeon of Zalma; three sisters, Marie Schneider of Illinois, Mildred Abernathy of Zalma, and Reeda Durham of Dexter; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter and three brothers
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home in Marble Hill, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Rudy Pittman and the Rev. Bill Sargant will officiate, and burial will be in the Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
