Raymond Francis Burbach, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 14, 1929, in St. Louis to Elmer G. and Marie M. Tonella Burbach. He and Louise C. Regan were married April 30, 1958, in Algiers, Louisiana. She passed away Nov. 2, 2011.
Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He was a member of American Legion Post 63 and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Korean War Veterans Association No. 86 in St. Charles, Missouri.
He worked for Combustion Engineering in St. Louis for 35 years. He also worked for Engineering Air Support Systems for five years and was a school bus driver in St. Charles. He was a door greeter at Sam's for six months.
He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Ann (Danny K.) Byrd of Sedgewickville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Rachel Dawn (Jason) Coleman of Sedgewickville and Daniel Joseph Byrd of Indianapolis; three great-grandchildren, Marissa and Caidlyn Byrd and Lilliana Coleman; and a sister, Jean M. Drew of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Robert and Dennis Burbach; sister Patricia Ann Daven; and great-grandchild Johnnie Byrd-Brown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with a rosary to follow.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.
