MOUNDS, Ill. -- Raymond Robert Briggs, 61, of Mounds died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1941, at Mineral Point, Mo., son of Wilson W. and Alice Blackburn Briggs. He and Dora Ann Mouser were married July 16, 1964, at Jackson, Mo.
Briggs was a resident of Mounds for two years, having moved from Los Angeles, Calif. He graduated from Montebello High School in Montebello, Calif. in 1961. He was employed by Pacific Fruit in South Gate, Calif., as a maintenance supervisor before retiring in 1990.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David R. Palmer of Seattle, Wash., and Timothy G. Palmer of Norwalk, Calif.; three brothers, Bill Briggs of Montgomery City, Mo., Charlie Briggs of Moscow Mills, Mo., and Danny Briggs of St. Peters, Mo.; six sisters, Mary Rebstock of St. Louis, Mo., Nancy Pauck of Fredericktown, Mo., Caroline Whittington of St. Peters, Wanda Adams of St. Louis, Betty Laughlin of Pico Rivera, Calif., and Gloria Stone of Ridge Crest, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call at the Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The Rev. Jerry Herring will officiate with burial in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
