Raymond Bles

Raymond Joseph "Joe" Bles, 61, of Scott City died Saturday Aug. 28, 2010, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 6, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of Raymond Michael and Wanda Genese Summers Bles. He and Brenda Kay Whitworth were married March 7, 1970.

Joe was a heavy equipment operator with Girardeau Stevedores. He was a member of the Illmo Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post 3127 and the American Legion Post 0389 in Chaffee.

Survivors include three sons, Mike (Beth) and Todd Bles of Scott City and Chad (Jennifer) Bles of Sikeston, Mo.; a sister, Joyce Rogers of Scott City; and nine grandchildren, Courtney, Katlyn, Kirsten, Cana, Jonah, Chloe, John Luke, Makayla and Makenzie Bles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chad Bles officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
