BLOOMFIELD -- Ray E. Metcalf, 90, of Bloomfield died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Jan. 6, 1908, at Crowder, son of James Lawson and Julia Ann West Metcalf. He and Maida Ruth Lewis were married Dec. 13, 1941. She died July 22, 1991.
Metcalf was a retired farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include five sons, Perry Metcalf of Bloomfield, Earl, David and Eddie Metcalf of Dexter, Richard Metcalf of Piedmont; four daughters, Loretta Green, Elwanda Pullum and Rebecca Stephens of Dexter, Julia Sommers of Puxico; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, two brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Holland officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield.
