BELL CITY, Mo. -- Carman "Ray" Jackman, 79, of Bell City died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston, Mo. He was born April 5, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of Otis and Lillian Warren Jackman. He and Betty Ann Congleton were married June 29, 1955, in Hernando, Miss. She died Nov. 25, 1999...

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Carman "Ray" Jackman, 79, of Bell City died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born April 5, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of Otis and Lillian Warren Jackman. He and Betty Ann Congleton were married June 29, 1955, in Hernando, Miss. She died Nov. 25, 1999.

Jackman was a cement truck mechanic 30 years with Meyer Materials in Hanover Park, Ill. He moved to Bell City in 1992 from Streamwood, Ill.

He was a corporal with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War.

Survivors include a son, Mickey Jackman of Bell City; a daughter, Renee Jackman of Bell City; a brother, Joe Jackman of Dexter, Mo.; two sisters, Carol Reynolds of Sikeston and Rita Hodge of Oran, Mo.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

There is no service scheduled.
