TAMMS, Ill. -- Ray J. Egner, 69, of Tamms, died Thursday, July 25, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 29, 1921, near Ullin, son of Tony and Daisy Corzine Egner. He married the former Opal Henson.
Egner owned Egner IGA at Tamms 27 years, and served as an agent for Blue Cross & Blue Shield Insurance Co. in Cape Girardeau He was currently commissioner of Alexander County.
He was a member of Tamms Baptist Church, Shawnee Development Council, Southern Seven Board, Southern Five Board, and Egyptian Area Board of Aging.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tonia Nielsen of Jacksonville, Helen Willis of Tamms; a sister, Mary Carson of Tamms, and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Chapel in Tamms. The Revs. Bruce Cullers and Bill Ellis will officiate, with burial in St. Catherine's Cemetery at Grand Chain.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
