ORAN -- Funeral service for Walter E. "Ray" Hubbert, Oran Route 1, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Johnny Hester and Pat Hogan will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.

Hubbert, 63, died Thursday, April 27, 1995, in a vehicle accident near Clines Island in Stoddard County.

He was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Fayette County, Ala., son of James Travis and Ethel Jane Weaver Hubbert. He and Viva Ramsey were married Feb. 20, 1949, in Piggott, Ark.

Hubbert was a salesman and bulk truck driver with Santie Oil Co. in Sikeston. He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston. He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, James Hubbert of Memphis, Tenn., Thomas and Joseph Hubbert of Morley; two daughters, Cynthia Cantrell and Donna Martin of Sikeston; three brothers, Clifford Hubbert of Benton, Robert Hubbert of Sikeston, Andrew Hubbert of St. Peters; a sister, Mary Roark of Nashville, Tenn., and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
