SIKESTON -- Ray Edwin Bridwell, 70, of Sikeston and formerly of Canalou died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1995, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born April 26, 1995, at Hornersville, son of Elmer L. and Bertha Yount Bridwell. On March 3, 1978, he married Eleanor Williams Burden, who survives of the home.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Henry Meldrum Post 114 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3319, both in Sikeston. He farmed in Canalou and for 19 years and was a warehouseman with the Malone & Hyde Co. in Sikeston, retiring in 1987. He also raised flowers as a hobby for many years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Sikeston.

Other survivors include two stepsons, Larry F. Burden and Jim Burden, both of Sikeston; a stepdaughter, Sue Burden Harris of Ballwin; two sisters, Louise Baker of Flushing, Mich., and Sylvia Oakes of Flint, Mich.; 10 step-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Monsignor William Stanton will officiate, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Charleston.
