Randy Dale Leiner, 51, of Imperial, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at his home.
He was born Aug. 9, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, son of Glen Johnson and Alverta Drury Leiner. He and Sally LaRose were married Aug. 17, 1974, in Perryville, Mo.
Randy was a 1971 graduate of Scott City High School and a 1976 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
At age 10 Randy took up the guitar and became known far and wide for his talent as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. A devoted father, Randy passed his love of music to his sons, Jordan and Noah, his wife, Sally, and performed with them as The Leiner Brothers.
Recently, a CD of Randy's compositions recorded with his band, The Melroys, garnered worldwide radio airplay and critical acclaim.
He was also a real estate appraiser.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jordan Leiner of Crystal City, Mo., Noah Leiner of Imperial; his mother of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Glenda O'Laughlin and Janice Calhoun of Clearwater.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Steve McPheeters officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
