PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ralph A. Zoellner, 89, of Perryville died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 26, 1923, in Biehle, Mo., son of Adolph and Elizabeth Renaud Zoellner. He and Vera Mattingly were married June 21, 1947. She preceded him in death April 25, 1993.
Zoellner had worked for Missouri Highway Department. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, Mo., Holy Name, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, American Legion, and VFW. He loved fishing and gardening.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four children, Gary (Mary) Zoellner and Karen (Lynn) Schnurbusch of Perryville, Wayne (Dena) Zoellner of Cape Girardeau, Steven (Gail) Zoellner of Perryville; 12 grandchildren, Craig Zoellner, Keith Zoellner, Tracy Schmidt, Brian Schnurbusch, Jared Schnurbusch, Erik Schnurbusch, Lisa Schnurbusch, Joshua Zoellner, Nichole Henderson, Matthew Zoellner, Jill Holzum and Lynn Zoellner; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Gilbert, Sylvester, Floyd, Louis and Delbert Zoellner; four sisters, Earlene Kemna, Marie Wibbenmeyer, Lucille Wibbenmeyer, and Elizabeth Buchheit.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and 6:30 to 9:15 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. A VFW wake will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 8:15 a.m. Monday.
Funeral Mass will be at Christ the Savior Church at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military graveside service provided by American Legion and Delta Team.
Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
