CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Ralph Smith of Charlestonwas held Thursday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Gerald Collier officiated, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
McMikle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Smith, 56, died Tuesday, April 21, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Dec. 13, 1935, in Tuscumbia, Ala., son of Samuel and Neva Virginia Rutherford Smith. He and Judith Warren were married June 17, 1961.
Smith was employed by Union Electric 30 years. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams, and helped organize Charleston Men's Fast Pitch Softball Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Smith of Charleston; three brothers, Cecil Smith of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Raymond Smith of Russellville, Ala., Russell Smith of Charleston; two sisters, Reba Laster of Springfield, and Rachel Mix of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
