SCOTT CITY -- Ralph F. Hayes, 73, of Scott City died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Wayne County, the son of Leonard and Clara Elder Hayes. On Sept. 8, 1950, he married Lucille Rich.
He served as police chief of Scott City and Senath.
He also was a self-employed carpenter and farmed in Senath.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and belonged to the VFW and American Legion posts in Senath.
He belonged to the First Baptist Church in Senath.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Melba Parker of Scott City, Patsy Hayes of Wappapello and Pam Buchheit of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Floyd "Johnny" Hayes of Senath; three sisters, Lennie and Ruby Hayes, both of Senath, and Lavada Ridings of Jackson; and three grandchildren.
Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City and from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath, with Kent Storey officiating. Burial will be in the Senath Cemetery.
