SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- William "Ralph" Carlton, 89, of Scott City died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 19, 1910, at Pine Bluff, Ark., son of Louis J. and Bertha Baker Carlton. He and Velma "Juanita" Lambert were married June 5, 1931, at Cairo, Ill.
Carlton had been a crane operator for Lonestar Industries and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Scott City.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Don Carlton of Thebes, Ill.; a daughter Pat Kelsey of Scott City; a sister, Ruby Keesee of Scott City; a stepbrother, C.G. Cox of Cape Girardeau; five stepsisters, Mary Crosswhite and Virginia Smith, both of Advance, Mo., Iliene Hitt of Dexter, Mo., Ruby Johnson of St. Louis and Lillian Smith of Jackson, Mo.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two stepbrothers.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Scott City.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with Tom Kelsey officiating. Burial will follow at Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
