Ralph August "Sheeney" Burger Sr., 92, of Scott City died Friday, April 22, 2016, at his home.
He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Ancell to Joseph and Alvina Josephine Welter Burger. He married Mary Elizabeth Crader on Dec. 19, 1947.
He was a glazer at Cape Paint and Glass in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II at the Battle of Normandy. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6407 in Scott City and an avid crappie fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Burger; four sons, Ralph (Delores) Burger Jr. of Scott City, Michael Burger of Cape Girardeau, Mark Burger of Scott City and Bradley Burger of Scott City; a daughter, Diane Burger of Scott City; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Military honors will be at 7 p.m.
