Prudie Louise Lomax, 102, 800 S. Ellis, died Monday, Jan. 17, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born March 31, 1891, in Campbell, daughter of Pleas and Nellie Louise Martin Riggs. She and J.W. Lomax were married Sept. 17, 1917. He died Jan. 27, 1974.
Lomax attended Southeast Missouri State University. She taught schools in Cotton Plant, Caruth, Hornersville and Treasure Island. She was a member of First Baptist Church here, and charter member of Order of Eastern Star in Hornersville.
Survivors include two sons, Wilburn Lomax of Cedar Hill, Gary Lomax of Zalma; three daughters, Jackie Hutson of Cape Girardeau, Betty Korff of Shell Knob, Blanche Dowdy of St. Marys; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, two half sisters and a grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. John Owen will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.
