PRENTICE THARP

PARMA -- Funeral service for Prentice "Shortie" Tharp of Parma will be held at 2 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma. The Rev. Bruce White will officiate, with burial in Bernie Cemetery at Bernie.

Tharp, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born June 10, 1926, son of Alpha Omega and Stella Jane O'Connor Tharp. He and Lillian Maxine Wood were married Dec. 22, 1948.

Tharp had lived in the Parma area 35 years, and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Jackson of Pearland, Texas; two sons, Billy Tharp of Batesville, Ark., Jerry Tharp of Parma; four brothers, Amos, Harvey, Andy and Charlie Tharp, all of Batesville; three sisters, Janie Riddle, Goldie McMiller, and Bessie Bell, all of Batesville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two children.
