CHARLESTON -- Pleas "Charlie" Starks, 53, of Charleston, died Tuesday, May 25, 1993, at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.
He was born Nov. 14, 1939, at Charleston, son of Pleas and Arlene Starks. He married the former Mattie Miller.
Starks was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Buffalo.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Pleas Starks III of Buffalo; four daughters, Brenda Pruitt of Virginia Beach, Va., Janice, Gwendolyn and Margaret Starks of Buffalo; his mother of Charleston; six brothers, Albert and Robert Starks of Buffalo, Freddie and Henry Starks of Charleston, Louis and Ross Starks of Chicago; four sisters, Emma VanWinkle of Chicago, Frankie Reed, Rosalyn Hall and Donna Riggens of Charleston; five stepdaughters; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Sparks Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Wiley Reed will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Monday.
