Phyllis Ann Swift, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1951, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of James Rush and Mary Rayburn Fortner. She and Jack Swift were married May 26, 1978, in Cape Girardeau.
She was employed by Nations Bank as a facility manager and personal banker 19 years. She was a charter member of American Business Women's Association, Project Charlie volunteer three years in several public schools, a child advocate in many child abuse programs, and personally donated Bibles to prison ministries.
She was a member of Red Star Baptist Church and was church organist since she was 16.
She is survived by her husband; parents of Cape Girardeau; a son, Philip Swift of Cape Girardeau; two stepsons, Bryan Swift of Potosi, Mo., Shawn Swift of Jackson; a daughter, Melanie Swift of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Paul Fortner of Gordonville; and five stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The funeral will be held at Red Star Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Revs. Jim Matthews and Todd Greer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
