TAMMS, Ill. -- Phyllis Ann Hancock, 63, of Tamms passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Sept. 25, 1949, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of the late Herman Curtis and Rachel Mae Benefield Hancock.
Phyllis was a retired technician at Choate Mental Health Center in Anna, Ill. She was a member of Tamms United Methodist Church and a volunteer for Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS).
Survivors include a sister and her husband, Joy and Everett Varner of Tamms; a niece, Terri (Jeff) Farris; a nephew, Tim Varner; a great-nephew, Lance (Carla) Farris; and a great-niece, Bonnie Farris.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Pete Vinson officiating.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, Ill.
