SIKESTON -- Phillip Lowell Newman, 72, of Morehouse, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1991 at 3 p.m. at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 14, 1919 in Canalou, the son of Mode Thomas and Mary Lou Landers Newman.

He was a farmer and member of Morehouse Church of Christ.

On Feb. 25, 1939 in New Madrid he married the former Leora Arbuckle. She survives.

In addition, he is survived by one son, Phillip Thomas Newman, New Madrid; one daughter, Carole Lea Barks, Dexter; three brothers, Lois Newman, Sikeston, Clifford Newman, Tamms, Ill., Bill Newman, Hopkinsville, Ky.; two sisters, Geneva Lasters, Grand Rivers, Ky., Betty Scott, Gary, Ind; and two grandsons.

Four brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Woodrow Phillips, minister of Morehouse Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
