SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Ellis Philip Waldman Jr. of Sikeston will be held at 1 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. David Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Sikeston City Cemetery, with full military honors.
Waldman, 76, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Clearview Nursing Center.
He was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Sikeston, son of Ellis and Martha Thomas Waldman Sr. He and Margarette Jackson were married in 1977 in Jonesboro, Ark.
Waldman was county clerk of Scott County 16 years, worked in sales at Johnson Publishing Co. and was a business owner in Osceola, Ark., before retiring.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Paula Durham of Nashville, Tenn., Beth Lowney of Trophy Club, Texas; a stepson, Paul Jackson of Bryan, Texas; a stepdaughter, Nora Hanshaw of Jonesboro; a brother, Roy Waldman of Sikeston; a sister, Mary Buchanan of Sikeston; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
