SIKESTON -- George Philip "Phil" Melrose, 68, of Sikeston died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at his home.

He was born July 6, 1930, in Rector, Ark., son of Herbert and Clara Garrett Melrose. He and Mildred "Middy" Neislein were married June 20, 1953, in St. Louis.

Melrose served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was also marshal at Miner two years. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 595, and Eagles Aerie 4206.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Brian Melrose of Koshkonong, Craig Melrose of Oran, Kevin Melrose of the home; two brothers, Gary Melrose of Sikeston, Byron Melrose of St. Louis; two sisters, Mary Melrose and Amelia Jones of Rector; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today, and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Concordia Church, with the Rev. Robert Kriete officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
