Phillip "Phil" A. Brinson, 54, was born Nov. 28, 1967, to Lloyd and the late Beverly Dunlap Brinson. He passed Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, while surrounded by friends who loved him dearly.

Phil is survived by his father, Lloyd; stepmother, Nancy; and brother, Michael Brinson.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Pre-Law at Southeast Missouri State University.

Phil went on to become a successful business owner for more than 20 years of Jeremiah's in Sikeston, Missouri. The entrepreneur also opened Rufus Mudsucker's and Buckner Brewing Co. in Cape Girardeau.

Phil was baptized and became a member of La Croix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. His demonstrated love for God and mankind led him to serve on the La Croix Emergency Response Team, Samaritan's Purse and missionary work with his church family. He participated in the Big Brother program and trained several service dogs. One of his many passions was taking flying lessons.

A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at La Croix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. A celebration of life will follow immediately at Port Cape Restaurant in Cape Girardeau.

A second celebration of life will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 6, 2022, at Jeremiah's in Sikeston.

Memorial contributions may be made to La Croix UMC Missions, Samaritan's Purse or a charity of your choice.

Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
