Sirphenia Isabelle "Pheeny" Diebold, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at the Lutheran Home. Sirphenia Isabelle "Pheeny" Diebold, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Feb. 16, 1925, in New Madrid, daughter of Walter L. and Hattie Louise Broughton Meier. She and Quentin C. Diebold were married June 29, 1949, at New Madrid. He died June 27, 1994.

Diebold was a graduate of New Madrid High School. She lived in Benton and Oran before moving to Cape Girardeau in 1965. She had been a secretary at Buckeye in Sikeston, worked at the U.S. Post Office in Benton, and was a supervisor at the Social Security Administration office in Cape Girardeau from the early 1960s until retiring in 1985.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include two sons, Ken Diebold of Vacaville, Calif., Keith Diebold of Assen, Netherlands; two daughters, Barbara Ahlheit of Burns, Tenn., Kathy Davis of Jackson; a brother, Edward Meier of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Hariett Callison of Memphis; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday. The Daughters of Isabella will have a prayer service at 6:30, followed by parish prayers at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Church. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Denis Catholic Cemetery at Benton.
