Peyton E. Shrum, 89, of Campbell, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at General Baptist Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Shrum, Mo., to Joe and Nora Long Shrum. He and Mildred Hicks were married in 1953 in St. Louis.
Peyton served during World War II in Europe, participating in the air offensive in Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes and other central European campaigns, receiving six Bronze Stars.
He retired from Hussman Refrigeration in St. Louis. He was of the Methodist belief.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Shrum, and a sister, Inez Armstrong of Lake City, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
A graveside service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cape County Memorial Park, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
