TILSIT -- Funeral service for Peyton F. Schafer of Bolivar will be held at 11 a.m. today at Bolivar United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marc Magana will officiate, with burial at 1 p.m. in St. James United Church of Christ Cemetery at Tilsit.
Butler Funeral Home at Bolivar is in charge of arrangements.
Schafer, 74, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1994, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
He was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Whitewater, son of William Sylvester and Dora Francis Schafer.
Schafer was a retired teacher. He was a member of Bolivar United Methodist Church and former Sunday School teacher; member, treasurer, past president, and past district lieutenant governor of Bolivar Kiwanis Club; Future Farmers of America, and chaplain of American Legion Post 138. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche; a son, Gale Schafer of Fayette; two daughters, Cynthia McCutcheon of Fayette, Sandra Schafer of Florissant; a sister, Martha Stickler of Cape Girardeau, and two grandchildren.
