Norman Lee "Pete" Whitson, 72, of Jackson died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 23, 1943, in Cape Girardeau to Fred Lee and Malinda Wilhelmina Loos Whitson. He and Mary Laverne Haddock were married Aug. 4, 1973. She died March 7, 2011.
Whitson graduated from Jackson High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1965. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit.
Whitson also was a member of the Cape Capaha Antique Car Club of Cape Girardeau and the Perryville (Missouri) Elks Lodge.
Whitson worked for Missouri Utilities and later for Ameren UE for over 30 years, retiring in 1998 as foreman of the meter repair shop.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith (Ray Jones) Whitson, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Dorothy Brown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home-Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Boettcher officiating. Burial will be at New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military honors.
