PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Percy J. Gibbar, 84, of Perryville died Friday, April 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Perry County, son of Clell A. Gibbar and Emma M. Kline Gibbar.
He and Cecilia M. Maddock were married Oct. 25, 1941.
He had been a carpenter and mechanic, working in the construction business. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, member of Holy Name Society, Western Catholic Union, American Legion Post 133, VFW Post 4282 and the Perr-Comp Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Gibbar of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada, Percy Gibbar Jr. of Joshua Tree, Calif., and David Gibbar of St. Louis; a daughter, Sharon Dismang of Perryville; a brother, Lester Gibbar of St. Peters, Mo.; two sisters, Elba Welker and Velma Lee Huber, both of Perryville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30-9:50 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. A VFW service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday; a parish wake with Knights of Columbus will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, and American Legion Service at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The Rosary will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Kevin P. Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery at Perryville. Graveside military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 133.
